The Retractor label brings a crucial slice of the Coil story to vinyl for the very first time with this reissue of the Live One LP. Taken from a 2000 appearance at Julian Cope’s Cornucopea festival at The Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank, this show is considered by most fans to be the very first true Coil live engagement. Featuring the full fourpiece lineup of John Balance, Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson, Thighpaulsandra, and Ossian Brown, Coil attacks the material here (mostly off of Time Machines) with an exacting fury that spawned a second (or third) life for the industrial drone pioneers, enabling them to continue touring largely up until John's tragic and untimely passing.

This live set was a primarily electronic affair, no doubt undertaken with the purpose of tearing right through the bodies of the audience. Dark tar vibrations introduce ‘Everything Keeps Dissolving’, gradually amplifying and opening us to the enveloping, pervading sound of electronic oscillation, fizzing and gurgling as soundwaves move through the air. The guttural synthetic growls and alien purrs of ‘Queens Of The Circulating Library’ make a platform for strangely scathing vocals to deliver their decree, decaying with all manner of manipulation, until the granulated high pitched whistles, signals, and lasering pulses of ‘Chasms’ ebb and flow out.

Live One is the legendary recording of COIL's much anticipated performance in April of 2000 at London's Royal Festival Hall (as part of Julian Cope's “Cornucopea“ mini festival)
