PIOULARD, BENOIT & OFFTHESKY — Sunder

Sunder is the first full-length collaboration between Brooklyn-based Thomas Meluch (aka Beno�t Pioulard) and Denver-based Jason Corder (aka offthesky). After years of independent work amid a like-minded community of ambient experimentalists, the two were brought together by the collaboration-centric Laaps label, for whom Corder has previously worked with Craig Tattersall (aka The Humble Bee).

Across Sunder's eight chapters, we hear careful constructions of tape-tinged guitar, voice, and field recordings, as well as strings, flute, bells and myriad other elements that arise and recede organically. Best experienced as a whole, the album's subtle flow is imbued with an arc that balances melancholy with windswept drift.

Recorded at La Berceuse (Brooklyn, NY) and offthesky studio (Denver, CO) 2022-2023 with electric and acoustic guitars, voice, microcassette tape, field recordings, modular synth, strings and flute.
