Gänsehaut-Industrial pur !
“Leichenschrei (German: Corpse Screams) is a horrendous journey into deep insanity. Inspired by the fact that main members had worked with the severely mentally ill, they used metal percussion, distorted analogue synthesizers and cut-up medical tape recordings to create a moving collage of noise, rhythmically relentless and genuinely disturbing. The tracks blend into each other and originally the first side of the vinyl album had a repeating groove leaving the listener to be pummelled by the sound of clanging steel. I adore this record, though I only know of one other person who has heard it and enjoyed it, whilst many others wouldnt get past the first few tracks and few would accept it as music at all. Its like the soundtrack to a snuffmovie, the sound of a steel-works built beside an asylum in Hell. Its one long audio nightmare, deeply eerie, evocative and powerful. Also it has a huge inventiveness in sound textures, noise combination, refined dissonance - this is no aimless thrashing about. Many sounds are thrown into the mix: breaking glass, women screaming, ethnic drumming, monk chanting, all manner of metal percussion and excerpts from autopsy reports. No samplers - no MIDI - no digital audio. The Grey Area version contains artwork and some explanatory text which wasnt included in the original LP, and some interesting photographs. If you have the courage and enjoy a journey into unforgiving darkness you may enjoy this as much as I do. Perhaps the best industrial album ever made, equalled only by Einsturzende Neubauten.”[blu]
