“In Buddhism "Bardo" means the intermediate stage between one event and another. In a strict sense, it is a transitory state between death and resurrection. The Italian composer Gianluigi Gasparetti, known as Oophoi, takes us to the realm of beyond with his new album. It's a dark ambient work that leads us through all levels of bardo from total chaos to absolute harmony. The four compositions on the album are the four steps on the way to enlightenment: from contemplation to total dissolution, along the path of light towards the resurrection. "Bardo" is a very meditative album, permeated with sacral atmosphere. Oophoi weaves a delicate sound canvas using electronics and "live" instruments (flute, gong, Tibetan singing bowl) and sprinkles it with half-perceptible voices. Bardo leads to the purification of the soul from the vain, to the clearing of the mind, and to realizing the unity of human being and nature.” [Julia Kozyreva / Electroshock Records]
