Allgegenwärtige Vibrationen.. wieder grossartige Feldaufnahmen vom Meister, der Klänge einfängt, die auch starke emotionale Resonanz erzeugen..

“The sound work of Toshiya Tsunoda represents a radical rethinking of the concept of field recordings. Rather than being documental or naturalistic, his pieces appear as unique music compositions concerned with the relation between space and cognition, rendering the vibration of objects audible, revealing the hidden beauty in each sonic detail. As he says in the booklet of the cd "Considered simply, there is absolute insulation between an observer and the observed. But that is not true. An object is apprehended in its interaction with an observer. They are stuck together. We observe the vibrations of our living space. Vibrations surround us, continuously. The act of observation changes our perception of an object, depending on the point from which we observe it. The object and our observation of it form a dynamic relationship -- a single, vibratory system. Here, there is no insulation. And our hearing? Our eardrum is always in contact with air, which is the medium of vibration. As vibrations occur in
the air, our eardrum moves slightly, even if we don't notice. Space and our perception of it are linked in this moment, even as we struggle to separate the two. "To render the vibration of objects audible, a piezo-ceramic sensor with a weak current is used to generate pressure. The vibration transmitted inside a solid is then changed into voltage, which can be recorded". With the meticulous scientific approach of a cataloguist, Tsunoda captures the depth of the landscape, the vital breathing of things. This record is indeed a precious listener's guide to the fascinating world of mr. Tsunoda.” [press release]

“ Fourteen of these beautiful pieces, all in varying areas, both human made and natural, are presented here. It sounds, if I read this back, like it's all so simple, but it's not. Tsunoda captures the right space, the right recording angle and knows exactely when a piece has the right length. Not a dull moment in sight here. Next to Chris Watson's work, Tsunoda belongs for me to the absolute top of sound environmentalists. Another masterpiece!” (FdW) [Vital Weekly]
