"Maldek, named after the theoretical missing planet which exploded to become the asteroid belt, in this case is music of Seattle's Nate Hamlett. This first LP is an album of many varied, short quirky tracks, most of which are instrumental. The mood is contemplative in parts and playful for some of the vocal parts, sung with falsetto or experimental voice sounds. The guitar sections are multitonic with rough melodies that experiment with the musical scale, and including a backwards guitar section. Maldek incorporates interesting percussion and electronic effects as well as loops played through foot pedals. Overall it's a quiet and melodic album with a modern experimental rock edge."
