Wenn man dann noch bei Aroma Club Paradox (Dekorder 032, LP, himmelblaues Vinyl) auf Titel wie ‚Schuldige Scheitel‘, ‚Tristesse aromatique‘, ‚Eskapaden am Tischtelefon‘ oder ‚Bei der Notdurft zu hören‘ stößt und unter den Verantwortlichen auf Asmus Tietchens, bei genauerem Hinsehen in vielerlei Gestalt, da fährt einem unwillkürlich die Hand an die Stirn. Tietchens, unterstützt von Tussi Schemante, Assistent Meuch etc. - oh sancta Anagrammatica, Nachtigall, ich hör dir trapsen. Er setzt hier seine Aroma Club-Reihe von bisher Musik aus dem... (1998) bis Weihnachten im... (2004 & ‘07) mit Yamaha PSR 36-Spielereien fort. Zumindest die Pop-farbige Aufmachung erinnert an seine Sky-Phase Anfang der 80er. Der PSR 36 ist ein Kind des Jahres ‘88, der so ‚billig‘ und ‚künstlich‘ klingt, dass der Anklang an Retorte allein schon Nostalgie, ja Rührung auszulösen imstande ist. Tietchens‘ Muzak-ähnlichen Melodiechen zwischen heiter, lässig und müde mitsamt den Farbtupfern auf dem Hemd der im Geiste des Paradoxen Getauften, versteht es, die Ironie und den Kitsch so sublim in den Hintergrund zu mischen, dass vordergründig so etwas wie..., ja wie ein Aroma der Zärtlichkeit auf der Zunge aufblüht. Kein Cioran-Zitat verunziert dieses Lob des Vordergrunds, dessen Euloge niemand anderer als Nietzsche ist, der dringend riet: „...tapfer bei der Oberfläche, der Falte, Haut stehenbleiben, den Schein anbeten, an Formen, an Töne, an Worte, an den ganzen Olymp des Scheins glauben". Nur „Oberflächlichkeit aus Tiefe“ hat wahren Popcharakter, der bei Tietchens einhergeht mit Distanz zu den Launen des Zeitgeistes." [Bad Alchemy] "hematic sunsets is an alias (an anagram to be exact) for german soundartist asmus tietchens from hamburg. while his solo efforts are often austere formal works (yet never lacking a twisted humour), hematic sunsets is a different beast altogether. reminiscent of his sky-era attempts with rhythm and melody, the aroma club series is tietchens warped, almost parodic (per)version of lounge music. each record of the series is based on the sounds and rhythms of one particular (preferredly cheap) organ/keyboard, usually a yamaha product (this time it's the psr 36). while the last club lp was recorded with several guests (felix kubin, michael rother...) and the 2007 x-mas 7" was a collaboration with long-time "producer" okko bekker, "aroma club paradox" is another solo effort (collaborating with several fictitious anagrams/characters though)." [label info] "Every now and then Asmus Tietchens leaves his serious self behind, like an outta body experience, and enters the Aroma Club. Somewhere in the 80s he released four synth based LPs on Sky (and subsequently recorded on CD by Die Stadt), and then in the last years of the old millennium he returned to playing this kind of music on cheesy keyboards as Hematic Sunsets, producing by now, including this one, four LPs and two 7"s, curiously the latter two being christmas singles. This new one, the first LP not released by himself, sees another thirteen tracks of this music, but with lots of variation. 'Kopf Geben' has a nice banging rhythm to it, whereas 'Tristesse Aromatique' is a modern electronic exercise in meditation. 'Eskapaden Am Tischtelefon' sounds like a Kid Baltan update. This fine pop album moves along many lines, but makes a very consistent impression. It proofs the mastership of Tietchens in U musik - unterhaltung that is, entertainment, whereas he is best known for E musik - ernste musik.
